Hello, my name is Amy Scaff, and I am a Twitter Hater-most days.
Twitter has never been my favorite platform for many reasons. I love words, I hate abbreviations, and I love punctuation. Twitter breaks too many rules, and it's too public.
However, even this, self-professed Twitter-Hater, will admit, sometimes Twitter can be handy. On occasion I will peek into my app and find some really awesome educational tools, or I will do something amazing with my students and share it with the world using our school hashtag. But mostly, my app goes unused.
I started out teaching my students the basics of Twitter. Our first "tweets" consisted of students stepping into the role of the characters in a book and responding. We used the story of "The Tortoise and the Hare" to create the tweets. Then, the students wrote hashtags (cue the angels singing).
