In the A.C. Williams Elementary Gifted and Talented classes we are using the free web tool called Sketch Nation to create our own online games. Each student will be given the opportunity to design their game from the ground up. They will start with the basics such as backgrounds, characters, obstacles, etc.
When students have finished the basics they will then move on to the harder aspects. They will have to make their levels and determine how you win on each level as well as how the characters die. They will have to try each level out on their own to make sure it makes sense and ensure that it can be played by others.
When their game is complete and ready to be played by others, we will share them online and other students will have the chance to try them out and provide feedback. This activity will be a fun, engaging, and challenging for my GT students.
